At Rush, we believe every child deserves the chance to laugh, play and move freely in a safe, exciting environment. While many of our guests visit us for birthdays, outings and family fun, there are thousands of children who never get the opportunity to experience a place like this. By teaming up with the Sporting Chance Development Foundation, we’re working to change that – and with your help, we can open our doors to even more young people who deserve a day to simply be kids.

Who is the Sporting Chance Development Foundation?

For over three decades, the Sporting Chance Development Foundation has been using the power of sport to change young lives in South Africa’s under-resourced communities. They believe that every child, no matter where they are born, deserves the chance to play, learn and dream big through sport.

As a registered NPO, Sporting Chance creates safe, structured programmes where children are introduced to a variety of sports in a fun, supervised environment. Through these programmes, kids not only learn the rules of the game, they develop essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, respect and resilience. Sport becomes the vehicle through which they learn to communicate, solve problems and build confidence in themselves.

The organisation works closely with schools, communities and local partners to reach children who might otherwise never have access to proper sports facilities or coaching. Their coaches and facilitators are trained to mentor and motivate, helping each child to feel seen, included and supported. Over thousands of coaching sessions, holiday clinics and tournaments, Sporting Chance has helped create a positive alternative to the many social challenges children face every day.

Most importantly, the Sporting Chance Development Foundation gives children something to look forward to – a place where they can feel safe, active and inspired, and where the lessons they learn on the field or court stay with them for life.

Why We Partnered with Sporting Chance

At Rush, everything we do is about movement, energy and joy. We see every visit to our park as an opportunity for kids to be active, laugh out loud and forget about the pressures of everyday life for a while. That’s why our partnership with the Sporting Chance Development Foundation feels like such a natural fit.

We know that many children in under-resourced communities never get the chance to experience venues like ours. Even when there are programmes designed to support them, the simple cost and logistics of transport can be a major barrier. Sporting Chance is already deeply involved in these communities, working daily with children who need safe spaces to play and grow. By joining forces, we can use our park as an extension of their mission.

Through this initiative, we open our doors to Sporting Chance participants and create days where they can run, jump and play in a world designed just for fun. For us, it’s not only about hosting a visit – it’s about showing these children that they are welcome here, that they belong in spaces that celebrate movement and adventure, and that their joy matters.

The Current Challenge

We want to welcome these children into our park on a regular basis, not just once-off. The biggest hurdle is getting them here safely and reliably. For many of the kids, transport is the one thing standing between them and a day filled with play and laughter.

The desire is there – the children are eager, ready and excited to participate – but without transport, they simply can’t reach us. That’s where you come in.

Help us bridge the gap!

When you pay, you can choose to round up your purchase to the nearest R10 (for example, from R250 to R260) or add a donation amount of your choice. No contribution is too small – every rand helps fuel a seat on a bus or taxi that brings a child to Rush.

Every cent goes directly toward transport costs that enable children from Sporting Chance programmes to visit our park. Together, we can turn a normal day out for your family into an extraordinary day out for theirs.
